Summer Task

This is my Summer Task work where I compared Genre, Camerawork / Cinematography and Representation of the Casino Royale Opening Scene Clip and the LA Noire Title Sequence clip.

  1. Well done for identifying the marginalisation of women in the thriller genre, in LA Noire they are trivialised. the LA Noire clip includes all the generic conventions of a film noir thriller. We will be analysing how directors use, develop or challenge thriller conventions after half term. You may want to look at the coursework booklet where these conventions are discussed.

The use of the cowboy in "LA Noir" is ironic and a reference to the 1940's and 50's classic westerns. The gun is a thriller convention and what audiences expect in a thriller.

A strongly proficient response splendidly presented. You already have a good understanding of media language, this will develop as the course progresses.

One revision: Slide 6 and 7 are both the same. Could you please sort this out.

  2. Thanks for the feedback, I've altered the presentation to get rid of that duplicated slide!
