An articulate, well organised interesting and informative case study indicating you can confidently illustrate your points with references to how director's establish and DEVELOP genre as Carol Reed did in "The Third Man".
The vanishing point is another generic convention, used in Essex Boys and in the film Witness when the child goes into the toilets in a Philadelphia railway station; he leaves his world and enters the sordid world of crime and witnesses a brutal murder. Vanishing points suggest movement into an alternative reality; the iconic final sequence where Anna walks down the path in the cemetery and ignores Martins indicates she is leaving his reality. Her inscrutability also challenges the audiences’ expectation of a romantic ending whilst also challenging dependent stereotypes.
I like the way you have identified bare trees in the cemetery indicating stripping away. Martin’s strips away Lime’s glamour and exposes corruption as at the heart of the man.
Avoid using “simplistic” as an adjective (slide 2) instead say something like …the minimalist cinematography not only reflects the harsh reality of post war Vienna whilst focusing on the relationship between location and character.
Excellent and indicating you can independently analyse film language. Well done Emily, a great case study.
